The issue of gay marriage is sooooo 2005 and so are the arguments against it (and the fact that it took that long up here is ridiculous enough in itself). Give me a break. The whole "You can have everything but the word" attitude is nothing but a prime example of the fact that the GLBT community is still riding in the back of the bus. If in 1929 here in Canada they said to all women, "You can have the same rights as men, but we're still not going to legally refer to you as persons" would that have been ok? "Well, it's just LIKE being a person-- it's just the word, really. We're reserving that for males because they are the only ones who have TRADITIONALLY been considered persons. It's the way God wanted it."
Hey-- U.S.A.! Yeah, I'm talking to you! Is there anybody else on that side of the border? How's about you grow the fuck up and actually employ that whole "Liberty and Justice for All" bullshit you make your children pay lip-service to every day at the start of school?
Not that we don't have our own issues here, but the hypocrisy drives me nuts! You believe in individualism and the meritocracy? Then get the hell out of the way of the individual and live and let live!
Sorry for the language. I'm just pretty riled up.
